Each round of Endless Winter consists of three distinct phases: the action phase, the eclipse phase and the new generation phase. The action phase involves playing various cards and carrying out actions. Examples of actions include hunting and developing. With every action carried out, you take your tribe one step further. You also prepare for the eclipse phase during the first phase. In the Stone Age, astronomical events occurred regularly, leading to major conflicts between different tribes. Following such events, a new generation took over from the old, which occurs in the third phase of the game. Once these three phases have been completed, a new round begins in which you develop your tribe.
The points awarded during Endless Winter are allocated at the end of the game across various categories. These include the animal, tribe and culture cards collected, along with the sacrifice track and the honour track. The player who has accumulated the most points by the end of the game has succeeded in leading their tribe to prosperity and has won the game.
